During his spare time, he would create and design sketches of different styles and approaches, which later then had him hired in an Haute Coutre house. By 1945, he started designing for Marcel Boussac, a famous man who made a living from fabrics. Because of his constant hard work and determination, he was able to launch his very own clothing collection called the Corelle line, which premiered in the year 1947. Tow year after, in 1949, he established his own fashion house called the Christian Dior New York Incorporated.

Christian Dior then continued creating designs, this time with shoes as well as with other leather goods like handbags. The buying public has greatly appreciated his classic designs that speak of ultimate hard work and sheer simplicity. Through out the year, he has started to build an empire, with better designs and young and fresh designers like Pierre Cardin, who was an aspiring tailor during his time, and Yves Saint Laurent, an Algeria-born young and talented designer. The idea of teaming them together turned out to be very successful. The young Saint Laurent has created designs with a touch of the feminine side, thus making it deeply appreciated by women who have been loyal customers to Christian Dior.
