Gucci Men

One of the many leather goods name and Italian iconic vogue, House of Gucci has been around for several years. So what makes it different with all the other fashion icons and lines in the fashion world?

Similar to other top quality clothing companies today, Gucci started small with a store that sold leather products which was managed by a family. Its founder, Guccio Gucci is a son a merchant from Italy who was based in the nation’s northern manufacturing district.

As a thinker young fellow, he looked for the finest artisan to be employed in his fashion studio, gaining him the reputation for excellence in quality by the buying public.

More than a decade has passed, Gucci opened a boutique in Rome, where he personally became in charge for designing mostly of the firm’s distinguished merchandise. By the year 1947, Gucci launched the handbag with a bamboo handle that is currently a mainstay in the company. In 1950, the designer also created a logo with striped webbing. It was taken from the suede moccasin and saddle cinch with some metal bits.

Guccio Gucci married Aida Calvelli, having a huge family of six children. But only his sons Ugo, Vasco, Aldo and Rodolfo take the tasks in managing the firm. When Guccio died in 1953, his son Aldo put the company into global fame, with stores located in London, New York and Paris newly opened. Inevitably, the family especially the children who were running the company had vicious internal strife. There always arise disagreements concerning bequest, stock holdings, company headship and the likes.

In the midst of the arguments however, the company still managed doing additional developments. By the latter end of the 1960’s, they opened shops Korea, Hong Kong and Tokyo. That same era, Gucci also created its highly acknowledged GG logo taken from the founder’s initial Guccio Gucci. This was also the introduction of a shoulder bag that became a favorite of Jackie Onassis, the wife US President, Jackie Kennedy; as well as the Flora silk scarf that was prominently worn by Grace Kelly, a Hollywood actress.

Gucci, still like any other clothing companies, also experienced bankruptcy when a succession of family clashes took place including the unsuccessful hasty family decisions. At the end year of the downfall time, one of sons who inherited the company made the Gucci Accessories Collection (GAC). This designer collection of different accessories like pens, bags and lighters, which were reasonably priced, compared to the other designer goods in the market.

Little did they know that the GAC became the threatening force to cause major downfall to the family business. There was a time that Gucci was at the peak of the fashion industry when stars Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly endorsed his designs. Unfortunately, Gucci still did not appeal to the greater public then so it remained a low brand.

But as he persevered and continued his work, something great happened. A major turnaround of the firm took place in the late 1980’s, turning the label one of the world’s most prominent fashion houses. Currently, because of its iconic standing, Gucci is often talked about in popular culture like hip hop music and rap artists which often summarizes a message about bragging the luxurious kind of life that one has when they go for Gucci products.

Gucci generated an astonishing 1.9 billion dollars in revenue in 2004, hailing it one of the world’s leading luxury labels. It almost has a complete line of Gucci Men, Gucci Women, and accessories for both. In fact, Guinness World Records cites the Gucci “Genius Jeans” as the most expensive jeans in the world. Well, this is just a normally pair of Gucci jeans ripped and covered with African beads, but hold your breath, the price is never that simple. Gucci men’s leather coat is one sure of a very classy item, as well as other Gucci man’s suit and women’s apparels. Gucci runs about 425 stores around the globe including wholesales, franchisees, and upscale department stores.

Well then what makes Gucci different from the other leading and recognizable fashion houses in the world. Go figure.
