Menswear

This is not men’s wear 101 class, nor Michel Adams’ reputable fashion and style guidelines. But with the swift transformation of men’s fashion through the decades, every man should know the things they stuff inside their closet and the basics when it comes to men’s fashion trend.

Fashion has been making few comebacks. In the early 20’s, it was practically anesthetized. Dull and plain indeed. Eventually, after few years, it was reborn and changed. Another set of wardrobes was introduced and time and time again, there was a recurrence of colors, clothing materials, themes and fashion designs. Growing young generations, and societal events have added much to the revisit of men’s wear and fashion.

Choosing the appropriate wardrobe can be stressful. Men are known to be straightforward, snappy and lazy when it comes to shopping items for their own. Little did they know that sometimes, small details vary a lot. Of course you do not want to get humiliated when certain situations come up. Who doesn’t want to impress a girl on a first date? You will pick a jaw – dropping formal wear to stand out and get the attention of a fine young lady on a company’s social gathering or just want to get noticed during a theater play or a ballgame.

Formal wear is one fashion phrase describing suitable clothing for weddings, baptismal, gatherings, cotillions, proms, awards nights and the likes. Western formal wear swayed many countries when it comes to style. More often than not, it is the standard dress to most of the countries where there is no known national costume.

There are different degrees of men’s formal wear. Men’s style makes up the day and night styles. Evening styles include court dress that is often worn at Royal Court; the white tie or tailcoat that is considered the appropriate formal wear accompanied by a top hat; and black tie, or dinner jacket also popularly known as tuxedo in American English. Tuxedo were increasing in popularity but were not yet completely acceptable.

On the other hand, day style includes frock coat or Prince Albert frock or a surtout; morning dress which are usually reserved during prominent gatherings and are frequently worn by male members of a wedding party; the stroller which are men’s semi – formal daywear and the lounger suit or simply known as jacket. There is also a combination of the tailcoat and the black tie style worn only by servants and waiters, which are called grey tie.

Other men’s fashion trend includes the comeback of vintage craze that is highly influenced by retro style. Gothic and cyber punk fashion came out as well. Men no longer stick to what is seen on the television or what the clothing advertisers are introducing. Their scope to freedom of clothing expression has broadened. They pick their own style and theme. There is now a wide selection of suits, according to color, pattern or mode. Bling bling was also stuffed at the men’s store, as it became a fad accessory to most of the men.

Status quo of men’s fashion is most likely coined from each fashion era that has passed. The casual shirts, velvet collars and a rolled up umbrella, long hair style, bell – bottoms – it is like a little bit of everything indeed. There is no particular fashion theme that is outshining others. No particular fabric or pattern is becoming an exclusive fashion and flavor for the season because people are mixing it up.

Men’s wear and fashion trend of the new millennium has become simply complicated and intricately simple. Too ironic, just as how the fashion is getting back time and time again.
